Hey There!

Remember that time that I dropped all my OCTs and kinda withdrew from the community to work on a portfolio for the animation program at Sheridan?

And then handed it in about a month ago but still didn’t do anything out of nervous anticipation over the results?

Well I found out the results last Thursday! And I made it in! I got into the program!

You’d think this post would be in all caps and would have come a bit sooner; but honestly I can hardly believe it! I feel like I’m sleepwalking and that if I tell too many people I’ll wake up. But I think this is actually happening! Though I won’t be sure till I walk onto campus come September.

I’ve also been sick the passed few days, probably a mix of relief and also trying to force the spring weather by going outside without a coat. Not a good idea.

So once my illness dies down and I’m able to better grasp reality I’m gonna get back into things! And if I don’t I’m counting on you guys to bug me about it!

And now that I’ve had professionals approve of my portfolio maybe I’ll share some of it. Maybe. Haha.

CHARACTER CHALLENGE!

ARTZ AND CHARACTER CHALLENGE

I think I am going to take on a personal challenge the next few weeks. If anyone else wants to do this along with me, they are welcome to. 

The challenge is to make a completely new character, and to flesh them out through a new drawing every day for two weeks. 

Day 1. Write a profile and do an initial sketch
Day 2. Draw a series of outfits for the character (at least four different outfits)
Day 3. Draw your character at various ages
Day 4. Fill in an expressions sheet or draw your character expressing at least four different emotions
Day 5. Make one full character sheet of your character sitting, standing, and their back-side
Day 6. Draw a scene of an important happy moment in the character’s life
Day 7. Draw a scene of an important sad moment in the character’s life
Day 8. Draw them in an AU (as a Pokemon trainer, something from another fandom, in just another world, et cetra)
Day 9. Draw them with an important pet, or an animal of some sort
Day 10.  Draw them with a friend
Day 11. Draw them with a family member 
Day 12. Put them to work—draw them in a scene of where they are employed, or doing whatever it is they do 
Day 13. Draw them doing a favoured hobby or activity  
Day 14. Draw them however you’d like!

:’D The goal is to practice drawing a character often and consistently. You can do these challenges for one day every day, one day once a week, or however you can manage. But it is to challenge us to really take on a new character and explore them in different angles and in different ways,so that we might learn them. :’D

I might do this, but I’ll do it for a character I need to flesh out more rather than make a whole new one :’D

It’s amazing what you can do when you get up early!

Like check your messages, get a balanced breakfast, and head out early to a life drawing session; only to see that shuttle buses are running for a chunk of the subway, end up taking too long to get anywhere, and then turn back to salvage your morning only to get seated beside the talkative homeless man.

At least he was nice. He just smelled like pee. And it’s not even lunch!

Well WHATEVER this isn’t going to dampen my spirits! And I still have the entire day to be productive! I’ll draw naked people another time.

I haven’t drawn Lysis since dropping out of Hyperion - which is almost half a year ago now deargod :’D but even with Duality and End Run raging in my heart I felt the need to draw her (it’s the hair, it’s so perf).

It was nice drawing her uncharacteristically happy too; probably just saw Amelie do somethin’ silly. Lysis your feelings are showing, cut it out.

So I just realized… I haven’t posted here in a long time! I’ve been more active on my character blogs, but I feel bad for neglecting this one.

So here are some sketches; some old, some brand new.

Top to bottom: Sticky’s character Tim and my character Nebraska being buds. Then in the middle Michael and Anala who I both made for Round 4 of End Run, but I only ended up using Anala. Then at the bottom my character for Duality, Aubrianne. She’ll have her own blog up in a short while which I’ll pimp out here.

It’s currently raining and she’s bemoaning the fact that we’ve only gotten one trick or treater and she cries out:

“Toronto kids are wussies! When I was a kid we went trick or treating when it rained; hell we went when it snowed! We’d go into strangers houses and have hot chocolate!”

Then she started talking about my aunt dressing up as a clown hobo, but I was laughing too hard at her vehemence and didn’t hear the rest.

Mom you are too classic. OH and you should totally go tweet her about me telling you about this! She’s called Caftanwoman… And I just realized that I am Art/Bat-Lass and she is Caftanwoman…

My family should get an award or something.
